Red Island, or Kizilada in Turkish, is a beautiful natural destination and a popular stop on the Twelve Island day cruise itineraries. The tours usually anchor in the natural bay so passengers can disembark and explore the sandy beach or swim in the clear turquoise waters that surround the island.
The island is known for its red hue to the rocks and high hills with the highest point standing at 133 metres above the sea level. Although the south side of the island is mostly uninhabited except for a lighthouse which is home to the lighthouse keeper and their family. This lighthouse plays an important role in guiding ships through the islands that can be very shallow. These rocky islands and surrounding rocks are popular for different groups thanks to their natural state, local fishermen come here to enjoy relaxing but bountiful harvest while divers use the rocks to explore the water from beneath the surface. The east side of the island is a warm place to relax with the hill stopping the wind it makes for one of the calmest places to swim. As the evening settles in the islands name becomes even more clear with the surface of the island taking an increased red colour.
