Marmaris Best activities

Inevitably the sea plays a major part in daily activities. Some just want to swim but diving and water sports are readily available for the more energetic looking for more than just a suntan. Marmaris Aqua Park is certainly fun.

Sedir Island
Also known as Cleopatra Islands, it is in the Gulf of Gokova, north of Marmaris. There is an amphitheatre, ruins from Greek and Roman times set within olive groves and a stunning beach. There are plenty of boats from the harbour just north of Marmaris on the main road on a daily basis.

Blue Cruises
The seas around Marmaris are warm and crystal clear. There are innumerable coves to drop anchor, swim, dive, fish or just relax. View all Blue cruise Marmaris options.

Resort Day Trips
There are several nearby resort towns, none the size of Marmaris but worth a visit perhaps because of that very fact. Icmeler is almost joined to Marmaris now, directly to the west while other places to consider include Turunc, Bozburun and Gokova. Datca takes more effort, probably over an hour away heading west down the Peninsula of the same name.

Jeep Safaris
The area in general is very interesting with the hill sides covered in pine which is one of the reasons why the honey is so good. Jeeps trips are popular to show tourists both the hills and the quiet coves in the area. Along the way you can visit Bayir Village where there is a plane tree that is well over 2000 years old. Marmaris to Ephesus is journey of approaching three hours but this major historical site, not just in national terms but world terms is well worth a visit. The downside in the height of summer is the day time termperature but visitors in spring and autumn should give this trip serious thought.

Dalyan is just over an hour away, to the east. It is known for its Lycian Rock Tombs and Iztuzu Beach, a protected area where the endangered loggerhead turtle nests. There are land and sea day trips to Dalyan, a small town that is quite a contrast from the bustle of Marmaris.
