Kemer Turkey is an expanding tourist town, the first town on the coastal road west of Antalya on the Turquoise Coast. It is under an hour away and the journey from the International Airport in Antalya to this resort town is perhaps an hour and a half because the airport is in the east of the City. It lies in a Gulf with the impressive Taurus Mountains behind the town. It was just a small rural area before Turkey began to grow as a popular holiday country with people from throughout Europe. Kemer’s population has now reached 20,000 from those small beginnings and many are involved in the tourist trade. Once the season begins the numbers in the town increase tremendously. The town remains busy from spring right through to the approach of winter in November. The Airport still has regular winter traffic so Kemer is accessible once the numbers have departed.

Its Mediterranean climate virtually guaranteed that through the summer months, there would be cloudless skies and temperatures that exceeded 30C by day and were still high enough by night for the lightest of clothing. It was only a couple of decades before that that a coastal road linked the area to Antalya; visitors could only really get there by sea.

It is a beautiful region with many lovely coves, the most deserted, pine forests, and mountains. The result has been the construction of many villas, apartments, and hotels to cater to demand. The marina holds over 300 boats so many people cruising up and down the coast by yacht or gulet come into Kemer as well.

There is plenty of history to enjoy and within a small radius of the town villages that will show visitors a glimpse of real Turkish rural life. There are plenty of activities to do in Kemer as well.
