Marmaris How to get here
Marmaris
Location
Marmaris Turkey is in the south west corner of the country with plenty of ways to reach it by air, sea or road. Winters tend to be quiet but at the first sign of spring visitor numbers rise dramatically and are maintained throughout the summer peak holiday months. Visit Marmaris Weather guide for further information.
Air
Dalaman Airport is about an hour and a half east of Marmaris. This international airport serves Marmaris and most of Southwest Turkey. There are domestic flights all year round to Istanbul with onward connections to every part of the world.
Road
The Turkish road infrastructure is excellent. There is a modern highway running west to east, to cities such as Antalya and beyond. Equally a very good road runs parallel to the Aegean Coast past Izmir and all the way up to Istanbul.
Sea
Marmaris is an important ferry port. There are daily connections with the Greek Island of Rhodes by ferry or hydrofoil while many other people dock in Marmaris when sailing around the Turquoise Coast in a gullet or a yacht. Many Gulet cruise Marmaris options go to Rhodes, Fethiye and Bodrum frm here.
Locally there are a couple of popular ways to get around. The dolmus is Turkey’s public mini-bus service while there are plenty of taxis though you should negotiate a price before getting in.
